“It wasn't exactly on the cards that Pilates would be my next sports adventure, with football, crossfit and running always coming first. Even though I've played sports all my life and teach PE in high school on a daily basis, Pilates was never really something I encountered on my way.
But since I've had problems with back pain for a number of years, I thought it might be time to broaden my horizons. I've now been doing the back class at Pilates Cph for 5 weeks, and although I was a bit sceptical at first, I have to admit that it has made a difference for me.
This form of training is very different from what I'm used to and requires a completely different kind of bodily awareness and concentration. It may not be as dynamic, but this means that you actually get the opportunity to work with a completely different quality in the exercises.
It has given me a different awareness of how to control my pelvic and spine muscles, which also leads to better posture in everyday life.
I can already feel progress and with a relatively small amount of training, the pain in my back has subsided. The adventure has only just begun, and Pilates is definitely something I'll be doing in the future.”
