I've been attending Pilates at Pilates Cph since 2013. For many years, I've struggled with the consequences of scoliosis, slipped discs in my lower back, as well as knee and hip pain. (...) For long periods - especially after my pregnancy - Pilates has been the only exercise I've prioritised. I can clearly feel a difference. I feel strong, no longer slump in my back when I get tired, and even my knee problems improve when I exercise.

Now that I'm back to doing Pilates, I'm reminded of what I value so much about Pilates Cph. The good atmosphere, where I feel seen and welcomed. The small class sizes make individual guidance possible, and the instructors' competence and meticulous approach make a world of difference. It gives me a sense of security because I know the guidance is professionally sound. When I started at Pilates Cph after hip surgery, my whole body needed rehabilitation. I think of that training as something that changed my life. After a couple of years' break, my body started to act up again, and that's why I returned. I can already feel that it will be okay again with your help.

Pilates at Pilates Cph is the only exercise I've ever stuck with. Yes, it's brilliant training that suits my temperament, of course. But it's equally due to the fact that the language used is respectful, inclusive, and doesn't fall into the ‘we are girls who train to get thin and live up to a certain body ideal’ trap.

Anna

I am simply so happy to train at Pilates Cph! Over the past year, I have undergone three operations for a slipped disc in my back, where exercises and rehabilitation with a physiotherapist did not have the desired effect. I started at Pilates Cph on the recommendation of an osteopath as an alternative to regular physiotherapy and to alleviate my chronic lower back pain. The training takes place in small groups, where the instructor has an overview of everyone. Pilates strengthens my body in a gentle, effective, and holistic way, gives me better body awareness, and increases my quality of life. It has become an important sanctuary for me, which I wouldn't want to be without, and I'm already looking forward to my next session.

I love coming to Pilates Cph because I always leave with renewed energy. You're always greeted by a calm atmosphere and friendly, skilled instructors. The classes focus on development, whether you're experienced or new to Pilates. Even though I've been coming here for five years, I'm constantly improving and getting stronger. The instructors are attentive to ensuring exercises are performed correctly, and you feel seen and heard, even in a class of 10. Every time I have back or shoulder pain after a day at the office, I know that an extra class will help. It's incredibly lovely to go somewhere that welcomes all body shapes, ages, and types – because the focus is always on strength and the exercises, rather than quick results. Pilates helps me feel stronger in both body and mind.

Pilates is so much more than rehabilitation. Admittedly, that's also where I started. For a while, I trained out of necessity. (...) Today, Pilates is for fun. The variety, pace, and challenges in the skilled instructors' classes mean I enjoy every session, even though the classes can be incredibly tough. My body is stronger, more supple, and more toned than ever before. But Pilates is also an investment in the future. I have osteoarthritis in my knee, and training at Pilates Cph is my hope for being able to live an active life for many years to come.

Gunhild

At Pilates Cph, I've got the strength back in my back and my abdominal muscles. It was here that I learned that Pilates is not a form of acrobatics, but a holistic understanding of body and mind, so that I can live in the same body for as long as possible.

Since I started at Pilates Cph, my posture on the bike has improved significantly and I’ve built up a completely different level of core strength. I no longer rely solely on my legs, but use my whole body, and my pedalling has become both easier and more efficient. (…) I can honestly say that Pilates has eliminated 90 % of the back pain I used to suffer from after long rides in the saddle. The high level of expertise among the instructors ensures that the whole body gets a workout. It might seem a bit nerdy to focus on a tiny muscle, but it’s clear that every exercise serves a purpose and makes a difference. Pilates training at Pilates Cph is a really good addition for anyone who cycles. The training is focused, thorough and surprisingly tough – and that is precisely what delivers results that are lasting and practical.

“More than 15 years ago, I took a single Pilates class in Buenos Aires and thought: ‘I must try this again someday.’ Several years later, after I had my daughter, I started postnatal Pilates at Pilates Cph – and you could say I’ve stuck with it. (…) Pilates gives me body contact and body awareness. I almost never have pain in my back, shoulders, or other parts of my body that are typically strained by many hours in front of a computer. At the same time, it’s an hour for myself. The small classes and the instructors’ attention mean I get precise corrections, and the atmosphere at Pilates Cph is both relaxed and welcoming. I always feel comfortable.”.

Henriette Louise Jakobsen

“For the last ten years, I have suffered with back pain and stiffness in my back and neck, which has bothered me at home, at work, and during my training. I have tried back training, physiotherapy, yoga, strength training, massage, and osteopathy, until a physiotherapist advised me to try Pilates. A good acquaintance highly recommended Pilates Cph. It turned out to be my salvation. (…) The atmosphere is welcoming, and the classes are small and suitable for all levels. What makes Pilates Cph exceptional are the instructors. They have a keen eye for your imbalances and weaknesses and provide detailed instruction, so you achieve a strength and mobility you didn't know you possessed. I have always been as stiff as a board, but I have become significantly more flexible and stronger throughout my body – and miraculously, I haven't had back pain since. Pilates training has given me a better body awareness, improved posture, and the belief that my body can last for many more years – as long as I train at Pilates Cph.”

“In my daily work as an actor, it's important that I'm in good physical shape. At Pilates Cph, I get a workout that both strengthens my physical condition and creates bodily well-being. Pilates builds musculature from the inside out, starting from the spine. You can feel your deepest muscles and thereby gain knowledge of your body – both its strengths and limitations. Pilates connects the head and body and creates coordination between movement and breathing. Pilates provides focus in both body and mind. I've been a member of Pilates Cph for 10 years. I always leave feeling a happier person every time I've trained at Pilates Cph.”

“It wasn't exactly on the cards that Pilates would be my next sporting adventure, as disciplines like football, CrossFit, and running have always come first. (…) I can already feel progress and, with a relatively small amount of training, the back pain has subsided. The adventure has therefore only just begun, and Pilates is definitely something I will continue with in the future.”

Søren

“Today, I don't need to see my physiotherapist as often, as I maintain the flexibility in my knee with Pilates exercises. The reason I'm also continuing my membership with Pilates Cph is simple for me. We're a small group of about 10 people, all going through a programme that the instructor guides us through safely and effectively, so we all finish well at the end of the class. We're not alone; we're there together, and we all get through the session's programme. And that's what's so unique about Pilates Cph! And for me, the training never ends, as maintaining a good and flexible body now and in the future has become a lifestyle. Thank you to all you skilled instructors at Pilates Cph.”

Marianne

“Pilates is a great way to train your muscles, become more flexible, and increase your body awareness at the same time. I was born with a curved spine and have also always been incredibly inflexible. Therefore, I've long been trying to find a way to train my body to feel better regarding back pain and the like. (...) I've now been doing Pilates for a few months, and the improvements have been enormous. My posture has improved, my neck and back pain has almost completely disappeared, and all in all, I feel good in my body. Pilates is tough and challenging, but it's also possible to participate even if you're inflexible and out of shape. It's a great form of exercise that I would recommend to everyone.”

“I started practising Pilates in 2018 to keep myself fit during a period when I was ill at home due to my epilepsy. Pilates became my escape, and the place where I could focus on getting stronger and improving myself – without being held back by my epilepsy. Pilates is a profound and thorough form of exercise, where body awareness, breathing, and knowledge of one's own body's strengths and weaknesses, are valued just as highly as physical strength, flexibility, and mobility. Furthermore, you become part of a family of embracing, skilled, and loving people at Pilates Cph, where your individual needs are also focused on. When I practise Pilates, I become stronger and more body-aware, but the training also has a significant positive psychological effect on me. I become calmer, and more connected to my body, and I carry this with me when I leave the studio.”

“After five years, with a back that could do nothing and recurring pain, it was very difficult to maintain a belief that it could get better again. At Pilates Cph, I have gained new tools to work with my mobility and have reconnected with muscles that had otherwise retired early. I experience an enormous focus on details that helps me perform movements that previously felt impossible. The pain now only occurs when I forget to listen to Gitte's advice about taking things slow. And it's difficult, because now I believe in the...”

I can highly recommend Pilates Cph. I've had back pain for many years and in periods went to the chiropractor weekly due to displacement in my spine and a prolapse on the left side of my back. I started a course with Gitte and was impressed from the start by how skilled and engaged she is. I have now had approximately 35 lessons with several different instructors and find that only the best are allowed to teach at the studio. All teaching is conducted at a high professional level. My posture has changed, I have strengthened my muscles, become much more flexible, and can now do things I haven't been able to do for many years. At Pilates Cph, you are in safe and engaged hands. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.

My Pilates course with Pilates Cph has helped me reconnect with my body, as I knew it before I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. In addition to strength, the training has helped to ‘clear some of the gravel out of my brain‘ that came about after chemotherapy. It has helped to restore better communication between the brain and the body's different parts. I have been strength training throughout and after my treatment, but this Pilates course has added an extra layer of strength and body awareness to my recovery period. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏🏻”

“For many years I suffered from lower back pain, but since I started doing Pilates at Pilates Cph, it's gone. I feel a different kind of strength in my body and have learned about many muscles I didn't know existed. The many skilled instructors and the flexible schedule make it easy for a freelancer with changing work hours to fit in good exercise. There is a focus on individual development, while also enjoying the good community and atmosphere from the classes – thank you for that.”

“I've suffered from severe tension headaches my whole life. When I started Pilates, it was to strengthen my muscles and improve flexibility after having four children. I've tried massage, physiotherapy, lots of exercise, relaxation, etc. But nothing has worked on my headaches, so I just accepted that headaches are a (too big) part of my life. But miracles do happen. Because after I started Pilates, they have gradually become fewer and less severe. It's indescribable how liberating it is not to be such a slave to my body as I have sometimes been…… You see, it was a gift beyond a more toned body that I hadn't expected at all.”

Over the years, I've tried several Pilates studios both at home and abroad, and Pilates Cph is the best place for me. They stand for really high quality and an individual approach, which means you clearly feel progression in your training and get a better everyday life with a stronger, more flexible body – without pain. That's also why I returned to Pilates Cph. After a busy period with two small children, I started having neck problems. It was particularly the combination of Pilates training and osteopathic treatment that helped me regain mobility in my upper back and get rid of tension headaches. Many thanks to Pilates Cph for an effective and professional experience – and my warmest recommendations from here.

In the heart of the city's pulse lies a small sanctuary – a Pilates studio filled with warmth, presence, and a cosiness you feel the moment you step through the door. (…) The mat classes, which are otherwise disappearing from Copenhagen, have found one of their very special homes here. The quality, care, and love for the Pilates tradition are present in every single movement. (…) Gitte, who is behind the studio, doesn't just teach – she communicates, uplifts, and inspires. And when she's not teaching herself, her carefully selected team of warm, competent instructors are ready. All with their own unique energy, but with the same presence and professionalism. (…) Quietly and steadily, a community emerges. You become addicted to the mornings, the calm, and the feeling of starting the day somewhere where everyone shares a loving intention to take care of their bodies. (…) For me, this studio is not just a gym. It's an oasis. A place that gives more energy than it takes.

Pilates Cph is an absolutely fantastic place to train, with really skilled trainers who take care of any ailments you have. I came here 1.5 years ago with a very bad back; I was in extreme pain every day. The professor who sees me asked me to try some training of my muscles around my skeleton. At Pilates Cph, I felt that they listened to me, and that it was a really good place where you felt welcome, and where they are incredibly attentive to where you are in pain, and what you can and cannot do during training. They have done a tremendously good job for me, and today my back is as good as pain-free, thanks to Pilates Cph.

“I have been attending Pilates Cph's pregnancy and postnatal classes for over a year – and it’s one of the best things I’ve done for myself. During my pregnancy, Pilates helped me maintain my strength in a gentle way. And when my body was ready after giving birth, Pilates helped me rebuild it comfortably. At the same time, my posture has become much straighter and more attractive. Pilates Cph is a really lovely place, and Dorthe is one of the best and most competent trainers I have ever met. The training is adapted to how your body is feeling on the day, and Dorthe can always make your body feel better. I have become both a stronger and a happier version of myself since I started at Pilates Cph.”

Not many men practise Pilates. However, a great many men have back problems. After 3.5 years with a slipped disc and a wide range of different training and treatment methods, Pilates at Pilates Cph has proven to be the most helpful practice for me. The most crucial factor has been the attentive and sharp gazes of the many skilled instructors, who have been able to help me find the correct execution of exercises I thought I knew, but had been doing incorrectly for years. At Pilates Cph, the instructors always ensure that the technique is correct, and without their help, I wouldn't be where I am today.

I've always been physically active, particularly through running and cycling, but suddenly that came to an end when I developed a herniated disc in my lower back. Neither physiotherapy nor osteopathy helped in the long run, and eventually, I was persuaded to try Pilates at Pilates Cph. I've never regretted it! Besides no longer having problems with my back, Pilates helps me to strengthen my body and keep it supple – something that is especially important when you have a sedentary job like me and are no longer 25. I can therefore highly recommend Pilates Cph if you need rehabilitation or simply want to maintain your strength and suppleness.

“I've danced my whole life, but it was really through Pilates that I finally learned proper core technique. Pilates is the kind of workout that you immediately feel is working – not as subsequent muscle soreness or exhaustion – but as a feeling of effortless strength and flexibility. When in my 30s I transitioned from a life as a professional dancer to a life as a very sedentary university researcher, Pilates was a crucial physical support. Now, in my 50s, I've again seriously needed to rediscover, restart, and rebuild my body, and I love how Pilates helps me do that.”

I started private Pilates training with Christina at Pilates Cph because I had been suffering from serious back problems for a long time, which greatly restricted me in my daily life. After only the first few sessions, I noticed a clear difference, and after a few months, I was able to return to my normal life. I only have positive things to say about Pilates Cph – especially about Christina, who has been incredibly attentive and responsible. Christina has helped me to feel well again through a tailored training program that is continuously adapted. Today, I no longer have back pain, and I feel fantastic in my body.

Pilates Cph is a lovely place to go, with a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and skilled, dedicated Pilates instructors. I've been training there for about a year now and have mainly had private lessons with the very skilled and competent Gitte Peirano, who is behind Pilates Cph. Gitte has taught me how to engage my deep abdominal muscles and train them to help support my back, which is really nice following the injuries I've had in my back, in the form of two disc herniations, a protrusion, and countless back spasms. In short, Gitte has given me back my confidence in my body and my back – and the courage to start joining some Pilates classes.

Christina Blom

I was diagnosed with an umbilical hernia and a 4cm wide separation of my abdominal muscles, which I had no idea I had. The hernia bothered me almost daily, and I often considered having surgery. Instead, I started private lessons with Christina, focusing on breathing techniques and training my deep abdominal muscles. After some intensive private lessons, I had a follow-up appointment at Bispebjerg Hospital. To my great surprise, my “gap” was now only 2cm, and the connective tissue beneath the hernia had become so strong that the doctors deemed surgery completely unnecessary. There is no doubt that the Pilates training has made all the difference. I haven't done anything else.

Unfortunately, I have scoliosis to a degree that often causes me a lot of pain. I particularly experience pain if I don't do enough Pilates training for a period. Pilates training “lubricates” my joints and muscles, makes me stronger, and loosens the compensatory tension caused by the scoliosis. I would really hate to be without Pilates. I have been training at Pilates Cph for over 10 years. I have attended matwork, reformer/tower, pre- and postnatal classes, as well as private sessions. Sometimes I have tried other studios and other forms of training, but I have always returned – because the training and the instructors are simply better. They are truly skilled and adept at adapting the exercises to the challenges I have. I love the small studio and am extremely grateful for the dedicated Pilates training I receive. I am generous with recommending it to everyone I meet who has physical challenges. For me, it is the best studio in Denmark.

“ In the autumn of 2024, I was recommended major back surgery due to severe spondylisthesis and spinal stenosis, which gave me severe nerve pain and sensory disturbances in both legs and feet. The doctors were convinced that exercise would make no difference. On the recommendation of a friend, I decided to try Pilates anyway. I started with one-on-one classes with Gitte who taught me Pilates training techniques, which was an eye-opener for me - I've been training my core muscles completely wrong all my adult life. I've now been training at Pilates Cph for 1 year and today I'm pain free and have learnt training techniques that make all the difference. Gitte's knowledgeable and dedicated guidance has made a huge difference to me and I can only give Pilates Cph my highest recommendation”

As a new mum, I enjoyed attending the postnatal class where I was able to focus on strengthening my own body, which really needed it. I enjoyed being in a place where there was room for my baby to take up some space too. Highly recommend this place and the expertise of the instructors. The Pilates Matwork instructor programme at Pilates Cph is probably the best thing I have ever done for my body. I've been practising Pilates for 5 years and love the way you work with your body. Through the programme, I've gained even more knowledge of the different exercises and the technique behind them. And even though I thought I was pretty good at Pilates before, my training has just become 100 times better. I've learnt to train myself at home, which gives me a lot of freedom in my job as an actor. In addition, the programme has equipped me perfectly to teach others Pilates Matwork at all levels, which I do at Pilates Cph. And my girlfriends seem to enjoy it too ;-).

Pilates Cph has been the perfect choice for me. I have really enjoyed diving into Classical Pilates, which in my opinion is most important when it comes to Pilates knowledge. Both Gitte and Camilla have been fantastic teachers who have shown great knowledge and passion for Pilates. They are both very nice people who radiate good energy and calmness. The atmosphere has been great and relaxed, which has been really important to me as I lead a busy life on the side.

What the hell is a 50-year-old man doing in a Pilates centre? Well, after 7-8 classes, the answer starts to dawn on you. After many years of incorrect posture and associated back problems, I have tried to go to different gymnastics/exercise classes - but have never lasted more than 3-4 times. I had heard about Pilates and was hooked after the first class. The combination of floor exercises and more strength-orientated exercises with equipment works the whole body while being fun and varied. The individual exercises can be and are varied in countless ways, so no two classes are ever the same. The small classes mean that the instructors can help and guide according to individual needs. I simply cannot do without my weekly Pilates class.

Pilates is without a doubt the best and healthiest form of exercise I have ever done. Pilates training doesn't just stop when you leave your Pilates class. Not a bad word about physiotherapy, fitness, massage, chiropractic, yoga, surgery and painkillers.
