Welcome to the 40s now with ”auntie” hump and lack of muscle power to keep up with my pre-teen boys!
 
That was my realisation in September when I once again dragged myself to my wonderful chiropractor. Bringing with me a two-year-old herniated disc I hadn't had time to rehabilitate and a shoulder full of osteoarthritis. I looked my chiropractor in the eye and said: “I don't want to walk around with this old, painful and flabby body anymore and she suggested Pilates.”

I started at Pilates Cph in mid-September and since then I've been training an average of 4 times a week. It's been fantastic and despite having a busy family and work life, at no point have I pushed myself to work out. On the contrary, it's been a relief in everyday life - a free space where I get out of my head and into my body.

 
In early November, I visited my chiropractor again and felt as if my body was about to take an exam. Could she see the effect of my training at Pilates Cph? It turned out to be a truly amazing experience. In addition to the fact that through Pilates training I managed to remove the ”aunt” hump that I had developed due to a deteriorated posture caused by a herniated disc. She could clearly feel and document that there has been a significant change in my body. My back has straightened, I have a whole new strength in my torso and my pain is limited to my shoulder.
 
Last but not least, my hope is that Pilates is a habit I've picked up that will hopefully be as hard to kick as caffeine, sugar and nicotine. I love my new body. I'm determined to keep fighting so that I can once again be the strong mum and the strong trustworthy leader.
