For 10 years I suffered from an ankle injury that wouldn't heal.
Repeated examinations with various specialists in orthopaedic surgery departments in both Jutland and Zealand, with contradictory information regarding rehabilitation (with a seesaw), as some specialists directly advise against rehabilitation with a seesaw, while others say that this is the only way forward, has created more confusion than benefit.
As a result, the hope of recovery seems to be beyond my horizon.
Despite repeated treatments with a physiotherapist without seeing any results and the ankle pain that has worsened over time to the point where surgery is on the agenda, this made me realise that something had to be done, and it couldn't be done fast enough. My physiotherapist recommended that I start a rehabilitation programme with Pilates.
I therefore chose to get a personal trainer at Pilates Cph, which has given me a holistic approach to the rehabilitation of my ankle.
At Pilates Cph, you get competent guidance from skilled instructors who spend time explaining the purpose of each exercise and how each exercise rehabilitates the injured body part. Here, I received informative guidance for rehabilitation with a seesaw. Namely, before using a rocker board for rehabilitation, you need to have some strength in the muscles in and around the foot, and if this is not in place, a rocker board can do more harm than good as it will cause you to twist.
At Pilates Cph, you're taken care of and the injuries you have are focussed on. The instructors are sharp at correcting incorrect posture, weaknesses and instruct you via metaphor.
Rehabilitation at Pilates Cph has given me a better understanding of my injury and which muscles to focus on to avoid twisting, as well as a greater awareness of my feet and general posture.
I was close to losing hope and was depressed about my condition. Pilates Cph has given me a greater insight and understanding of my injury and given me hope again. I continue my journey towards improvement in collaboration with Pilates Cph and would recommend anyone with an injury to come to Pilates Cph.
