Pilates prevented a lot of pain

For the 64 years of my 68-year-old life, I have practised various forms of gymnastics. Unfortunately, about 10 years ago I started having problems with my lower back with pain when jumping, running, weightlifting etc.

After trying classical Pilates in New York, I finally found a form of exercise that gave me relief.

And as a result, 4½ years ago I started at Pilates Cph in different types of classes and last year I completed the programme for instructor in Pilates Matwork.
It has prevented manye pain and given me countless great tools and strength for posture and muscle use.

Unfortunately, my lower back still looked like an ’uneven plough field’ in the surgeon's opinion. So I had my lower back operated on with 8 screws and 2 splints last autumn.
This meant 3 months off from training, where I could only walk and ride a stationary bike. But everything I learnt at Pilates Cph about proper core alignment, shoulder position, and lots of Pilates exercises was a huge help post-operatively.

According to the physiotherapist, the public rehabilitation programme was of no use to me at all, my form was too good and in consultation with her I started Pilates again.

Today, after nerdy private classes with Camilla and Gitte supplemented with Pilates basic exercises at home, I'm top-tuned again.
OK, there will be a few exercises I'll never do again, but strength, flexibility and mental happiness is what I always get at Pilates Cph.

To quote my husband: ”You'll be cycling from the nursing home to Pilates in Nørregade by then!”
