Private Pilates and Duets in Copenhagen

I offer individual Pilates lessons with full focus on you

You should choose private lessons if you have:

  • Herniated disc
  • Long-term back, neck, or shoulder pain
  • Pelvic, hip or knee problems
  • Complex or recurring issues
  • Need for rehabilitation after injury or surgery

That's why individual tuition and rehabilitation works

Your instructor is trained to observe how your body moves and to carefully select exercises that are suitable for your specific body.
Your instructor's hands are an important tool. Manual guidance can help you perform exercises more accurately, thereby getting more out of your training.
You train on classic Pilates equipment, including the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, and Barrels, which offer almost unlimited possibilities to support, relieve, or challenge the body.

Home exercises

Where necessary, we will show you exercises that you can benefit from doing at home between your private lessons.

Invest in your own body

You can also opt for private sessions if you want customised training. We will tailor the instruction to your body and what you wish to achieve – whether your goal is to become stronger, move more appropriately, or keep your body strong and well-functioning for many years to come.

Duet

If you wish to train with your partner, duet lessons can be a good solution. To get the most out of the instruction, we recommend that you have roughly the same level and training goals.

“My herniated disc was bad and physiotherapy made it almost worse. My individual training program at Pilates Cph is the best investment I've made!"

After a year of constant and debilitating pain, I am now in top form and my planned back surgery has been cancelled.”

Mikkel Flyverbom
Professor

75 years old. Broken back. New knee. Scheuermann's disease. Scoliosis. Surgeon's/knee specialist's statement: best and quickest rehabilitation he has seen. With training: leaps out of bed in the morning. Without training: after a few weeks, crawls out to the bathroom. Exercise with humour, which increases mobility and trains muscles you didn't know you had.

For 64 of my 68 years, I have practised various forms of gymnastics. Unfortunately, about 10 years ago, I started having problems with my lower back, experiencing pain during jumping, running, weightlifting, and the like. (…) Unfortunately, in the surgeon's opinion, my lower back resembled a ’bumpy ploughed field’. Therefore, I had my lower back fused with 8 screws and 2 plates last autumn. This meant a 3-month training break, during which I was only allowed to go for walks and use a stationary bike, but the ’Pilates outfit’, Batman's cape and squats were a great help post-operatively. According to the physiotherapist, I could not make use of the public rehabilitation programme, as my fitness level was too good. In consultation with her, I started Pilates. Today, after 10 pedantic private lessons (…) supplemented with basic Pilates exercises at home, I am back in top condition. OK, I won't be able to perform ’rolling like a ball’ without a wobble. However, I can conclude that Pilates didn't remove my pain; the surgeon did that, but strength, flexibility, and mental joy – that's what I always get at Pilates Cph. To quote my husband: You'll certainly be cycling from the nursing home to Pilates in Nørregade in due course!

I've been attending Pilates at Pilates Cph since 2013. For many years, I've struggled with the consequences of scoliosis, slipped discs in my lower back, as well as knee and hip pain. (...) For long periods - especially after my pregnancy - Pilates has been the only exercise I've prioritised. I can clearly feel a difference. I feel strong, no longer slump in my back when I get tired, and even my knee problems improve when I exercise.

Katrine

Now that I'm back to doing Pilates, I'm reminded of what I value so much about Pilates Cph. The good atmosphere, where I feel seen and welcomed. The small class sizes make individual guidance possible, and the instructors' competence and meticulous approach make a world of difference. It gives me a sense of security because I know the guidance is professionally sound. When I started at Pilates Cph after hip surgery, my whole body needed rehabilitation. I think of that training as something that changed my life. After a couple of years' break, my body started to act up again, and that's why I returned. I can already feel that it will be okay again with your help.

I am simply so happy to train at Pilates Cph! Over the past year, I have undergone three operations for a slipped disc in my back, where exercises and rehabilitation with a physiotherapist did not have the desired effect. I started at Pilates Cph on the recommendation of an osteopath as an alternative to regular physiotherapy and to alleviate my chronic lower back pain. The training takes place in small groups, where the instructor has an overview of everyone. Pilates strengthens my body in a gentle, effective, and holistic way, gives me better body awareness, and increases my quality of life. It has become an important sanctuary for me, which I wouldn't want to be without, and I'm already looking forward to my next session.

In September, I decided that I no longer wanted to walk around with a body plagued by pain and lack of tone. I had a two-year-old slipped disc, arthritis in my shoulder, and was recommended to start at Pilates Cph. Pilates has become a sanctuary, a place where I get out of my head and into my body. After just a few months of training, my chiropractor could already see a significant improvement. My back had straightened, I had gained completely new core strength, and my pain had been greatly reduced. I love my new body. My hope is that Pilates becomes a habit I stick with for many years to come, so I can once again be the strong mother and the upright, trustworthy leader.

With a focus on my old injury in my lower back and spine, I have for the first time in many years experienced not having daily pain. A wonderful relief and value for me in my life and in my pregnancy. This is naturally strongly related to my focused and precise rehabilitation at Pilates Cph. My private sessions, as well as group classes, have given me a body awareness that I certainly didn't have before, despite years of rehabilitation with, among others, physiotherapists. I would recommend Pilates Cph at any time, both for private lessons and group training.

I can highly recommend Pilates Cph. I've had back pain for many years and in periods went to the chiropractor weekly due to displacement in my spine and a prolapse on the left side of my back. I started a course with Gitte and was impressed from the start by how skilled and engaged she is. I have now had approximately 35 lessons with several different instructors and find that only the best are allowed to teach at the studio. All teaching is conducted at a high professional level. My posture has changed, I have strengthened my muscles, become much more flexible, and can now do things I haven't been able to do for many years. At Pilates Cph, you are in safe and engaged hands. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.

I started Pilates because I've been struggling with a slipped disc. With Pilates, I can finally work out properly, sweat, and feel like I'm using my body. Pilates is and should be a cornerstone for me to maintain a strong and healthy body. I only have one thing to say about my training, and that is that I didn't start Pilates sooner.

My Pilates course with Pilates Cph has helped me reconnect with my body, as I knew it before I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. In addition to strength, the training has helped to ‘clear some of the gravel out of my brain‘ that came about after chemotherapy. It has helped to restore better communication between the brain and the body's different parts. I have been strength training throughout and after my treatment, but this Pilates course has added an extra layer of strength and body awareness to my recovery period. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏🏻”

Pilates Cph is an absolutely fantastic place to train, with really skilled trainers who take care of any ailments you have. I came here 1.5 years ago with a very bad back; I was in extreme pain every day. The professor who sees me asked me to try some training of my muscles around my skeleton. At Pilates Cph, I felt that they listened to me, and that it was a really good place where you felt welcome, and where they are incredibly attentive to where you are in pain, and what you can and cannot do during training. They have done a tremendously good job for me, and today my back is as good as pain-free, thanks to Pilates Cph.

Not many men practise Pilates. However, a great many men have back problems. After 3.5 years with a slipped disc and a wide range of different training and treatment methods, Pilates at Pilates Cph has proven to be the most helpful practice for me. The most crucial factor has been the attentive and sharp gazes of the many skilled instructors, who have been able to help me find the correct execution of exercises I thought I knew, but had been doing incorrectly for years. At Pilates Cph, the instructors always ensure that the technique is correct, and without their help, I wouldn't be where I am today.

I've always been physically active, particularly through running and cycling, but suddenly that came to an end when I developed a herniated disc in my lower back. Neither physiotherapy nor osteopathy helped in the long run, and eventually, I was persuaded to try Pilates at Pilates Cph. I've never regretted it! Besides no longer having problems with my back, Pilates helps me to strengthen my body and keep it supple – something that is especially important when you have a sedentary job like me and are no longer 25. I can therefore highly recommend Pilates Cph if you need rehabilitation or simply want to maintain your strength and suppleness.

I started private Pilates training with Christina at Pilates Cph because I had been suffering from serious back problems for a long time, which greatly restricted me in my daily life. After only the first few sessions, I noticed a clear difference, and after a few months, I was able to return to my normal life. I only have positive things to say about Pilates Cph – especially about Christina, who has been incredibly attentive and responsible. Christina has helped me to feel well again through a tailored training program that is continuously adapted. Today, I no longer have back pain, and I feel fantastic in my body.

Pilates Cph is a lovely place to go, with a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and skilled, dedicated Pilates instructors. I've been training there for about a year now and have mainly had private lessons with the very skilled and competent Gitte Peirano, who is behind Pilates Cph. Gitte has taught me how to engage my deep abdominal muscles and train them to help support my back, which is really nice following the injuries I've had in my back, in the form of two disc herniations, a protrusion, and countless back spasms. In short, Gitte has given me back my confidence in my body and my back – and the courage to start joining some Pilates classes.

I was diagnosed with an umbilical hernia and a 4cm wide separation of my abdominal muscles, which I had no idea I had. The hernia bothered me almost daily, and I often considered having surgery. Instead, I started private lessons with Christina, focusing on breathing techniques and training my deep abdominal muscles. After some intensive private lessons, I had a follow-up appointment at Bispebjerg Hospital. To my great surprise, my “gap” was now only 2cm, and the connective tissue beneath the hernia had become so strong that the doctors deemed surgery completely unnecessary. There is no doubt that the Pilates training has made all the difference. I haven't done anything else.

“ In the autumn of 2024, I was recommended major back surgery due to severe spondylisthesis and spinal stenosis, which gave me severe nerve pain and sensory disturbances in both legs and feet. The doctors were convinced that exercise would make no difference. On the recommendation of a friend, I decided to try Pilates anyway. I started with one-on-one classes with Gitte who taught me Pilates training techniques, which was an eye-opener for me - I've been training my core muscles completely wrong all my adult life. I've now been training at Pilates Cph for 1 year and today I'm pain free and have learnt training techniques that make all the difference. Gitte's knowledgeable and dedicated guidance has made a huge difference to me and I can only give Pilates Cph my highest recommendation”

Not a bad word about physiotherapy, fitness, massage, chiropractic, yoga, surgery and painkillers. I've been struggling with a herniated disc for 15 years and have tried it all with varying degrees of success. But I have to say that my private classes at Pilates Cph have done something for my back that nothing else has. I don't believe in miracles, but with Pilates we come pretty close
