Matwork Cph™ by Pilates Cph
Learn how to teach Pilates in a class
The training is for those who want a classic Pilates education with high professional standards. You will not only learn the classic Pilates exercises but also how to analyse movement, understand Pilates principles, and adapt the teaching to individual clients. The goal is that you will leave the training with the knowledge, understanding, and experience that will make you confident in teaching Pilates in classes and successful as a Pilates instructor.
At Pilates Cph, we take aspiring Pilates instructors seriously. Therefore, we have developed a training programme where quality, experience, and a deep understanding of classical Pilates form the foundation of the instruction.
Matwork Cph™ is one of Denmark's oldest classical Pilates education programmes. For nearly 20 years, we have trained over 300 Pilates instructors, who today teach in Pilates studios, clinics and fitness centres both in Denmark and abroad.
The training meets the international requirements of the NPCP (National Pilates Certification Program). Upon completion of the training, you will have the opportunity to take the NPCP's certification exam and obtain the international certification NCPT (Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher). That's why so many choose Matwork Cph™
For nearly 20 years, we have taught thousands of groups and private clients. With this experience, we have shaped Matwork Cph™, so the education is based on what we know works – both when you need to learn what Pilates can offer as a form of teaching, and when you need to teach others yourself.
Everyone can learn to teach the classic Pilates exercises. Few learn to teach them with the Pilates principles. Effective and correct Pilates is about the small details. At Pilates Cph, you will not only learn to teach the classic Pilates exercises, but also how and why. This gives you an understanding of Pilates that enables you to analyse movement, correct, and guide your students, so that your teaching is targeted to the individual student – not random.
Becoming a skilled Pilates instructor is a craft. Our goal is to give you the strongest possible foundation. The greatest development comes through curiosity, practice, experience, and working with your students. Therefore, Matwork Cph™ is for you who want thorough training and are willing to invest time and commitment in learning the craft.
Our teaching is built on a proud Pilates tradition
Our teaching is based, in part, on Kathy Grant's approach to Pilates. Kathy Grant (1921–2010) trained with Joseph Pilates and helped to further his teaching philosophy. This approach is a key part of the professional foundation that Matwork Cph™ is built upon.
Pilates is not a protected title or qualification. Therefore, we always recommend that you look closely at who is behind the training, what background the instructors have, and which Pilates tradition the training is based on.
Make Pilates fit the body – not the body fit Pilates
Our classic Pilates training (2006–2008) provided us with a strong professional foundation and extensive knowledge of Pilates. We later pursued further training in Pilates through Kathy Grant's Heritage Training Program, where, among other things, we learned Before the Hundred Years' War – a teaching method that changed the way we deliver Pilates.
As a Pilates instructor, you quickly realise that not all students can perform the classic Pilates exercises. The question isn't whether they can – but how you help them get there.
Through the method, we learned to break down classical Pilates exercises into smaller parts and build them back up again. Using preparatory exercises, imagery cues, and pedagogical tools made Pilates easier to understand, easier to teach, and easier to adapt.
At Matwork Cph™ you will learn the most important elements from Before the Hundred Years' War.
There will always be a need for the best Pilates instructors.
Training methods and trends come and go. But the ability to understand the body, its anatomy and movement, will never change. It's a professional skill you can take with you for the rest of your life.

TESTIMONIAL
Pernille Blume
Former Olympic swimmer and entrepreneur
“Pilates Cph has been the perfect choice for me. I have really enjoyed diving into Classical Pilates, which in my opinion is most important when it comes to Pilates knowledge. Both Gitte and Camilla have been fantastic teachers who have shown great knowledge and passion for Pilates. They are both very nice people who radiate good energy and calmness. The atmosphere has been great and relaxed, which has been really important to me as I lead a busy life on the side.”
