I have been doing Pilates at Pilates Cph since 2013.
For many years I have suffered from the effects of a scoliosis of 13-14 degrees between the shoulder blades. This has resulted in two herniated discs in my lower back and pain in my knees and hips as a consequence of my pelvis being crooked.
For the past twenty years, I've been seeing one of the best physiotherapists in the country on and off. Recently, I went to see him again to see if he could help correct my scoliosis. To my great surprise, he could no longer see the scoliosis. He was also very happy to hear that my pregnancy and labour had been completely uncomplicated with no back pain (I was told early on that pregnancy could be difficult for my back).
He also assessed that I was very strong throughout, both in the abdominal muscles but also in general.
My pelvis is still crooked, but I feel it very little. And the fact that the scoliosis is no longer visible I can only attribute to one thing. Namely my Pilates training, which for long periods of time (especially after my birth) is the only exercise I choose to prioritise. I can clearly feel the difference myself. I feel strong, I don't feel that my back is sagging as a result of fatigue. I haven't had any back problems since I started training in Pilates CPH, and even my recurring knee problems get better when I train.
