Interview with physiotherapist and instructor Sünne

Introduce yourself, what do you do in your everyday life?
My name is Sünne and I'm a physiotherapist and Pilates instructor. I work daily in a clinic where I meet many different people with different conditions and challenges related to body and movement. I have 9 years of experience as a massage therapist and was very interested in learning more about the anatomy of the body, which is why I decided to train as a physiotherapist.

Why did you start Pilates?
I've been doing Pilates for a year and a half. I started in Barcelona, where I was recommended Pilates Cph by some acquaintances. I've been curious about Pilates for a long time. I thought ”they must be on to something essential” and my prejudices have been met. The people I know who practice Pilates have a different body awareness, more control over the body, a connection to core strength and a fine and healthy posture. It's also clear to see that their movement is easier.

When I started Pilates training myself, I quickly realised the many benefits Pilates offers and have only one regret: That I didn't start sooner.

I take the concentration, strength and agility during training into my everyday life and feel healthier, stronger, calmer and happier in both body and mind.

What have our programmes done for you in relation to your work as a physiotherapist?
When I started my training at Pilates Cph, I knew I was in a good place. The training was concentrated and detailed.

I quickly got to know the ”Pilates language”. It makes it easier to understand what to do in the exercise, which means that the training becomes more effective. I quickly noticed positive changes in my body.

That's why I couldn't resist taking the programme!

In combination with my work as a physiotherapist, I have become more adept at analysing the body's movement and compensation strategies. It expands my ”physiotherapy toolbox” with effective ”spot on” exercises that can be quickly pro- or regressed to individual needs. I have become better at communicating what I want to achieve in each exercise and have gained an expanded understanding of how lasting changes in our body and movement patterns can actually be created.

Pilates is for everyone! Personally, I have so far used it to good effect for optimising details in the sports world, acute and chronic back pain that may have arisen for various reasons, working on postural improvements, hypermobility, etc.

Gitte and Camilla are very experienced and skilful trainers. It's a pleasure to listen to their golden nuggets and not least to participate in their training sessions.
