From almost disabled to being able to do Pilates every day

I'm a 32-year-old guy who has always had criteria for my workouts in terms of being able to sweat and use some energy at the same time - not something I used to attribute to pilates.

At the same time, for the past 2 ½ years I have been struggling with a herniated disc in my lower back, which at times has made me more or less disabled, which does not go well with my desire to exercise. But Pilates has made this possible. In Pilates, I can really work out, sweat and feel like I'm using my body. The difference between more traditional forms of exercise and Pilates for me is that Pilates will always look after my body and take care of my back, which means that I'm not afraid to push myself and work hard and not afraid of ’doing something wrong’.

I had a lot of prejudices about Pilates before I started almost a year ago. One of these prejudices was that it was only for women. As a student on SU, I also thought it was a lot of money to pay per month for training. I can now conclude that you get what you pay for - and more. It really is worth every penny.

You get focused and very competent teachers who always have an eye for your individual challenges, so it often feels like you're getting private lessons. This has meant that I always leave with the feeling that I have worked to my full potential and in the right way.

And back to my prejudice, Pilates is for everyone!

The new premises on Vesterbrogade have given us more flexibility and it's just a plus that it's in mega nice premises. I can only recommend others to start, regardless of income, gender and challenges.

Pilates freed me from any worries I had about my body and allowed me to enjoy using it like everyone else, without pain. I now realise that Pilates is and should be a cornerstone for me to maintain a healthy and strong body, and Pilates Cph has proven to be the perfect place for me to maintain that.

I only have one thing to say about my training and that is that I have not started Pilates before.
